Wednesday's Woman: Remixed

No feature of the day as far as singularly focusing on a woman for the day but rather like I've done once before I feel like featuring a couple different women in picture form and helping the fellas get over hump day with a few commendable pictures I've come across or been emailed. Some you'll recognize, some you won't, all are hot. Hopefully this is enjoyed.
Internet's been good to me. Real good to me as you can see. More next week.

Another Obama Supporter Does Something Stupid To Set His Campaign Back

This time it's Ludacris, releasing a freestyle over and Young Buck instrumental touching on everyone from Hillary Clinton to Rev. Jesse Jackson to John McCain to George Bush and more. The song is here:

Oh why oh why can't black people wait until AFTER the election to talk their shit. Obama hasn't won shit yet. Everyone knows black people are excited and inspired and fired up for the man's candidacy but you win first THEN you talk your trash. This doesn't help and Luda's got to act more responsibly.

Paul Pierce: 'I'm The Best Basketball Player In The World'

Finals MVP Paul Pierce, who recently spent three days at a ball camp in Madrid, is making, ahem, news about what he said to a Spanish reporter.

Q: Is Kobe really the best player in the world?

Pierce:"I don't think Kobe is the best player. I'm the best player. There's a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don't cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself."

My take: Look, I know what happens next. I've seen it time and time again. You get thousands on thousands of Lakers and Kobe Stans who will now come out of the woodwork and say all kinds of slights about Paul Pierce because he thinks he's better than Kobe and to these idiots, 'them is fightin' words'. I get all that. My question, and I hope they will ask themselves this before they grab their pitchforks and burning candles and shotguns and go on a lynching spree like the extremists they are, is what did you expect him to say? I mean really. His team just Fleece Johnson'd ("somebody's giving up some booty") your squad on the biggest stage and individually earned recognition as the best player of the series via his NBA Finals MVP trophy. He outplayed Kobe on both ends of the floor. He earned the MVP Trophy not even at full strength (clearly he didn't tear his ACL but he wasn't 100% I don't care what the stanleys say). He stared down LeBron James in a closeout game and lived to tell about it. And lastly overall, he was the best player of the entire 2008 NBA Playoffs proving all the B.S his critics pointed to about him not being clutch wrong. If he doesn't deserve to be confident I don't know who does right now, at this time. You play poorly and you eat a plate of crow. You play great and you reap the benefits of raising your stature. That's just one plus one equals two. Really, you learn those kinds of basics in elementary school recess periods. Besides, he was asked a direct question and he gave an honest answer. Not a packaged, political company line. You expect him to say somebody else is better than him? Not likely. I applaud, Paul. Only, you better come out how you left off in June man. You want to be the best, you better be able to put that title on the line every night, city after city. I think you got it in you personally, but the world doesn't. Prove me right and them wrong.

Jail Is NO JOKE, 'Booty Is More Important Than Food'

Not only does this guy look like Herbert, the creepy gay/pedophile guy from Family Guy, but he thinks like him too. Jail is not a good look.

An Now A Word From Ghostface Killah, LOL

A Reminder Of The Quality & Eloquence of Barack Obama For Blacks & Whites To See

After a busy morning of meetings, on Wednesday Senator Barack Obama toured Yad Vashem, just outside Jerusalem.

Yad Vashem being a hallowed museum dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and its victims.

Senator Obama laid a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance, and shared his thoughts in a hand-written message of his own words, as customary of foreign dignitaries, in the museum's guest book:

For those having difficulty making out the words, it reads:

I am grateful to Yad Vashem and all of those responsible for this remarkable institution.

At a time of great peril and promise, war and strife, we are blessed to have such a powerful reminder of man’s potential for great evil, but also our capacity to rise from tragedy and remake our world. Let our children come here, and know this history, so they can add their voices to proclaim “never again”. And may we remember those who perished, not only as victims but also as individuals who hoped and loved and dreamed like us, and who have become symbols of the human spirit.

Barack Obama

This man's grace is truly humbling. And for my dear Jewish brothers and sisters, may you know his words of remembrance and compassion are echoed in every corner of the African-American community as we too honor your history, recognize the needless suffering your people experienced and look toward cutting away at the tree that roots it's base in anti-semitism and prejudice that pits religious or racial divides among the human species.

Keith Olbermann Debunking Fox News As An Arm Of The Republican Party

What we've all been saying for years. Nas and Olbermann are tagteaming and elbow dropping Bill O'Reilly nightly. I love it.

Charles Barkley Sends A Kid In Philly To College

Charles Barkley is giving his money away again. No, no, no, don't judge! This time, instead of feeding quarters into some slot machine or doubling-down on 14 at the blackjack table, Barkley's picked up the tuition for a busboy at a restaurant in Philly. From the Philadelphia Daily News:

"Sir Charles told [Christian] Abate he would like to help him with his tuition, and Abate wasn't sure how to respond. Barkley didn't give him much time, telling Abate that he had the length of Barkley's meal to decide. Abate wisely accepted.

"He's a nice kid," Barkley said of Abate on Friday. "He was working with kids, I loved that he wanted to be a teacher, and I wanted to help him," Barkley told us by phone between stops on a flight to Reno where he was making a speech.

While the little-more-than-15% tip may seem particularly special, it's not so unusual for Sir Charles. In fact, the lovable goof has given at least $3 million to schools and education in his home state of Alabama. He's a giver, not a golfer.

As SportsByBrooks so eloquently put it, Barkley is just like Robin Hood: "He tries to take from the rich, but since he’s not very good at it, he gives to the poor out of his own pocket." So noble. Thump Bump, Chuck.

That's what's up. Now if only Chuck can pay my college loans.

Wednesday's Woman: Cassie Ventura

Today's lady needs no real introduction. She's probably a B-Lister in most music circles but even still she's eating food and drinking champaign and rubbing elbows with other famous people in places that we're not invited so, that's moot. Anyway, she's fine. Diddy won. This is a step up from Kim Porter who just about nobody I knew found all that dope in the first place. Maybe she can tell a good joke, or she's a entertaining person or perhaps she has a great personality, you know something that the public and cameras aren't capturing or you and I aren't privy to but I'm not getting how if you're Diddy you have to settle for Kim for so long. Anyway, somebody must have slapped him up or something and woke him up out that slumber he's been in because next to signing Biggie and Nicole Scherzinger, this was one of the better looks for him in his illustrious career. I certainly tip my hat(e) to you Sean Combs. Now let's all enjoy that arm candy he's rocking at the present time and let the beat ride out on this post...

'Now that's how you let the beat build beeeeyitch.'

Debunking the "Media Hearts Obama" Myth

If you've been following the news over the last month then in between the media ignoring McCain's speaking errors and mistakes you might have heard the conservative rumbling that the mainstream media has a kindergarten crush on Obama. Anyone with a brain know thats flatly rubbish but if you need proof the media rolls with McCain too, just enjoy this lovely family reunion style barbecue McCain throws at his home and how the big bad media shows up, giggles, brings flowers for McCain's wife and spoons with him:

Disgusting. Looking like little boys at Michael Jackson's Never NeverLand. These are so-called serious unbiased journalists or at least supposed to be.

Among the present guests:
Dana Bash,CNN; Washington Post reporter Michael Shear; Reuters' Jeff Mason; CBS's Dante Higgins; Newsweek's Holly Bailey; Libby Copeland Washington Post Staff Writer; Joseph Curl, THE WASHINGTON TIMES; Dan Nowicki , The Arizona Republic; Scott Orr, Newark Star-Ledger; Michael Cooper; Kelly Shannon, AP; Politico's Jonathan Martin; Laura Meckler, WSJ; Ana Marie Cox, TIME; Gerald Herbert, AP; Khue Bui, Newsweek; Libby Quaid - AP; Jill Zuckman - Chicago Tribune; Sasha Issenberg - Boston Globe; Adam Aigner - NBC; Mosheh Oinounou - FOX; Brett Hovell - ABC; Tasha Diakides, CNN ; Evan Glass , CNN ; David Jackson USA Today; Steve Hayes, Weekly Standard
I highlighted all the serious reporters and left the Fox News and Weekly Standard writes be as they're family to Republicans and not to be taken seriously anyway.

How To Combat Racism

I absolutely hate driving stories that are everywhere already even further into the ground but this video is so smart and refreshingly brilliant, it demands that I post it for the 1,000,001 time for that 1 person who hasn't seen it.

Jay Smooth breaks down how to verbally spar with someone who makes racist comments without letting them weasel out. Very enlightening.

This Doesn't Make Up For Anything

Naw. Ain't the same.

Tuesday's Top Ten: Shows On Television

This weeks Top Ten List is made up of the Top Ten Television shows on television. A few disqualifiers from making the list being no sporting events, the show must have a constant cast and must still be in production or else this list might be as long as the day and I'd never be able to condense it into just ten. Keep in mind I'm a black male between the age of 18-24 so a lot of these shows have to do with viewer demographics. So without further adieu:

  1. Lost - (Thursday, 9PM EST, ABC) Crash Survivors stranded on a seemingly magical island with more twists than you can account for when watching it. This is quite honestly the most gripping sho won television. Too bad the show takes a five year hiatus in between seasons. I'm not kidding. I'm 24 now and when the show returns for it's 5th season next year, it will be as old as me.
  2. The Boondocks - (Sunday, 11PM EST, Adult Swim) Hip-Hop's more intellectual version of Beavis & Butthead. Poignant, deep-cutting social commentary that reveals the complexity of black culture and characters within it's borders. Uncle Ruckus is for my money one of the top ten television characters on television (I'm thinking future Tuesday Top Ten list nominee). He alone is worth the price of admission but you also get John Witherspoon, Charlie Murphy & Samuel Jackson too? The show is crack. Can't wait for Season 3.
  3. Hardball With Chris Matthews - (M-F,5PM EST, MSNBC) This is a political show with some bite and some balls. Before Tim Russert died that was the only show that was in the conversation when you discussed tough, fair, no-nonsense tv journalism. You want to keep up to date on all the issues of the day and not be put to sleep you watch Chris.
  4. Curb Your Enthusiasm - (Sundays, 10PM EST, HBO) Funny story. An ex of mine was a fan of this show before I even gave it a shot. If it wasn't for her, I would be missing out on one of the funniest off the cuff tv shows out. To make a long story short we were trying to make it a blockbuster night one time, she picked a season of this, we went back to the crib, I couldn't have been more disinterested but I really liked this girl a lot, so I sat through a show I found insufferable solely for her. Probably a mixture of my focus on her and my hardheaded nature of having already made up my mind before she threw the DVD in. Months later, I'm sitting around the house and it's one of those nights where nothings on and I'd gone through all the stations 2 or 3 times and finally gave up and decided to go somewhere new on the remote searching for unchartered land like a modern-day Christopher Columbus and actually stopped on Curb and ever since I've been hooked. People are used to comedy's with live audience but this show doesn't have one but once you get past that and wrap yourself around that idea you're sold. Thanks Lindsay for putting me onto the show. I love you more than you'll ever know.
  5. Man V. Wild - (Fridays, 9PM EST, Discovery Channel) Bear Grylls has to be gullier than anyone I've ever seen in my life. Not just regular 'gully' but 'gully' with the volume up and bass thumping like a nigga in a caprice in front of a movie theater pulling up trying his best to show off for anyone who'll pay him attention. If you've been living under a rock, the premise of the show is the producers drop him out of a plane into remote and foreign lands with no water/food with just the clothes on his back and a camera and he's forced to rely on his military training to help him survive and maneuver his way through the various landscapes as he hunts prey to eat, looks for strange objects to build shelter like MacGyver and searches for the nearest town or civilization where once he discovers it, his hellish ordeal is complete. We've never seen cavemen first-hand but this is the closest thing to watching primitive early man behavior.
  6. RealTime With Bill Maher - (Fridays, 11PM EST, HBO) One of my favorite comedians weekly show on the hottest political issues of the week from his witty and honest viewpoint. Part standup routine/part interview/part roundtable discussion, Bill has you covered. People don't agree with every since thing he says on the show but really there's no one better than him on television at what he does and how he makes politics funny and points out the backwards thinking and mishandled policies and shines a spotlight on things to focus on. Very insightful program.
  7. Dexter - (Saturdays,9MP EST, Showtime) Showtime very rarely gets much shine on my television and yet I can't seem to muster up the courage to cancel the barely useful network because of one particular dark television drama, Dexter. It's like how nobody would fuck with the Cavaliers if LeBron didn't play for them. That's the perfect analogy. Anyway, Dexter is a forensics crime scene analyst that works in conjunction with the Miami police department (not gully), but goes around while off-duty, generally at night, and stalks upon the bad guys of the city and kills in the name of good (pretty gully). You come for the killing every week, but stay for the storylines and dialogue. Probably the best on television.
  8. Sportscenter - (Pretty much all day, ESPN) No description necessary.
  9. Family Guy - (Sundays, 9PM EST, FOX) Funniest Cartoon period, end of discussion.
  10. Countdown With Keith Olbermann - (M-F, 9PM, MSNBC) Former sportsbroadcaster turned serious newsman. He's the anti-Bill O'Reilly. He's on the left and will admit it but when he presents news stories, he seldom injects opinion and if he does, he back them up with facts not made up slime as packaged by FOX News and their blood-sucking dishonest television anchors. He's very charismatic and his Worst Person In The World segment is pure genius. Must see program nightly right here.

Offensive Obama Shirt Gets White Woman Jumped

A 25-year-old New York City graduate student is threatening to sue a T-Shirt designer after being assaulted for wearing one of his designs.

The woman bought a $69 shirt from Apollo Braun’s Manhattan boutique that bore the words, “Obama is my slave.” When she wore the shirt on Tuesday, four teenage girls accosted her - shoving her, pulling out her earphones, and spitting in her face, according to the New York edition of Metro News.

The unnamed woman is reportedly seeking solace by suing Braun - born Doron Braunshtein - for “all he’s got,” the designer claims. He, of course, is shirking any responsibility for the incident and says that the shirt reflects the views of “ordinary WASPs.”

“For a lot of people, when they see Obama, they see a slave. People think America is not ready for a black president,” the Israeli-born designer said.

I'm The Honorable 'Sass and I endorse that ass-whooping.

No, I don't really but seriously, people think it's cute to do dumb shit and expect that everything will be alright. You're within your rights to wear anything you want on a t-shirt no matter how crude or offensive it is. True enough. But don't wear something irresponsible and expect that you're going to be the only one that's going to be getting ignorant in public and nobody else is capable of getting ignorant too. God didn't stop making wild niggas after you. Expect people to react to you if you do something dumb and if you're going to take that risk in the first place and go into a certain environment that might act hostile in reaction to wearing a racist shirt then maybe you shouldn't wear it around them. Sort of like walking through a kennel with an outfit made of bacon. You're allowed to do it, but it's dumb and you're doing something purposely trying to illicit a response. Be grown-up enough to deal with the consequences.

Oh Yeah, Wednesday's Woman On Sunday: Katerina Graham

Aspiring Musician, Actress and Model Katerina Graham is very easy on the eyes. So much so that even Barack Obama's got her in some promos. We here at HAWO ain't mad at him for that at all.

But more to the point, I had this post together back on Wednesday and some family gathering diverted my attention and so today seemed like a proper enough occasion to post these pictures for all the fellas to enjoy. Now next week there's a certain lady (I ain't saying no names, lol) that visits this site that I would love to feature so if she shoots her flicks over to the boy y'all can see what I'm saying and we can watch in awe and in agreement on this fine young lady. But until then enjoy Ms. Katerina on this hotter than usual Sunday.
I mean she even makes Internet Thugging, fine. Damn.

First Footage Of Obama's Trip To Afghanistan

The military hates the Democrats, right? Doesn't look like it to me.

'Get me on the court and I'm trouble
last week messed and around and got a triple double
Freaking brothas every way like MJ
I can't believe it, today was a good day....'

Soulful Sunday

So as promised earlier this week, I put together a compilation of my favorite tracks from each of the albums from the top ten list of this past week. Call it a sort of peace offering if you will for me not upping any new music here for a while or call it me trying to give you a taste of an album or two you might possibly having not been privy to, although that's doubtful given the notoriety of mot of the artists, but that's neither here nor there.

I know how the game goes though. People don't download blog compilations unless they're want a specific song in the compilation or they're searching google and they're being directed to this post outright. I'm not mad either way just know I could have posted them individually but decided I didn't have the time and also if you want the glass of milk from me, you're buying the whole cow so download the whole thing. Reflect on some songs if you know them all. Sample some songs you hadn't knew about before now and look into maybe more from that album/artist, or download the whole thing grab the song or two you readily identify with and toss the rest to the recycling bin. I'll never know either way but in any event, enjoy your Sunday the way God meant for you to, with some nice laid back sounds. Because face it, it's too damn hot to do much else.

Tracklist:

Aaliyah - Never Givin' Up
Aaliyah - It's Whatever
Musiq Soulchild - marygoround
R. Kelly - The Greatest Sex
Lloyd- Valentine
R. Kelly - Seems Like You're Ready

Well, Well, Well, The Good 'Ol Re-um (Reverend Jesse Jackson) Uses The N-Word Too

Fox: Jackson used N-word in crude off-air remarks

CHICAGO (AP) — The Rev. Jesse Jackson used the N-word during a break in a TV interview where he criticized presidential candidate Barack Obama, Fox News confirmed Wednesday.

The longtime civil rights leader already came under fire this month for crude off-air comments he made against Obama in what he thought was a private conversation during a taping of a "Fox & Friends" news show.

In additional comments from that same conversation, first reported by TVNewser, Jackson is reported to have said Obama was "talking down to black people," and referred to blacks with the N-word when he said Obama was telling them "how to behave."

Though a Fox spokesman confirmed the TVNewer's account to The Associated Press, the network declined to release the full transcript of the July 6 show and did not air the comments.

Jackson — who is traveling in Spain — apologized in a statement Wednesday for "hurtful words" but didn't offer specifics.

"I am deeply saddened and distressed by the pain and sorrow that I have caused as a result of my hurtful words. I apologize again to Senator Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, their children as well as to the American public," Jackson said in a written statement. "There really is no justification for my comments and I hope that the Obama family and the American public will forgive me. I also pray that we, as a nation, can move on to address the real issues that affect the American people."

A spokeswoman for Jackson's civil rights organization, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, said she could not confirm that Jackson used the slur.

Jackson has called on the entertainment industry, including rappers, actors and studios, to stop using the N-Word. He also urged the public to boycott purchasing DVD copies of the TV sitcom "Seinfeld" after co-star Michael Richards was taped using the word during a rant at a Los Angeles comedy club in 2006.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who has joined Jackson in opposition of the word, said Wednesday he wanted to hear the comments for himself and declined to discuss Jackson specifically.

"I am against the use of the N-word by anyone and I think we must be consistent," he told The Associated Press. "We must not use the word."

The same people who can keep black people from using the N-Word use the N-word themselves. What a revelation. Who are you trying to put on the show for? I mean, really. It reminds me of gay politicians who lead the charge in doctoring up anti-gay legislation and spearheading movements to demonize and squelch they're rights when they're the same ones getting caught in homosexual activities in sex stings. This whole thing stinks to high heaven and having Jesse Jackson at the forefront of any news cycle is a loss for Obama by approximation. Hopefully somebody sends him on a vacation somewhere far far away. Maybe a 4 or 5 month cruise, until this whole election thing blows over because Jackson is always a sharp reminder to white people all the best and worst of the African-American in the United States. He's bold, strong and unyielding in his fight for black causes only he's also controversial, myopic, selfish and many times hypocritical. Step away from the podium, Jackson. You're not Brett Favre. You're hanging on beyond your usefulness now. You're not even a capable backup QB now. The responsibilities of simply holding the clipboard and aiding the starting QB are becoming too much for you to manage. Hit the showers........nigga.

It's All Good Until Somebody Gets Slapped

DENTON, Texas -- Denton police said a man attempted to rob a pizza restaurant Friday night, but one of the store's employees fought back and then three citizens stepped in to make sure the suspect and his accomplices went to jail.

Police said Benjamin Ramirez, 41, walked into the Pizza Patron in the 100 block of E. University Drive around 10:30 p.m.

Ramirez was wearing a wig and dark sunglasses and was carrying what appeared to be a silver handgun, police said.

Speaking in Spanish, Ramirez told the clerk "give me the money" and then slapped the worker in the face, according to investigators.

The clerk, 17-year-old Rudy Sandoval, said he was going to give the suspect the money but decided to fight back when he got slapped.

"I ran up on him right here," Sandoval said as he described the fight. "I just stuck him two or three good times right here. He just dropped right there and started snoring."

Ramirez was passed out for several minutes but regained consciousness and was able to get up and run from the restaurant.

That's when someone passing by outside realized something was wrong and started chasing the suspect on foot.

Ramirez got into a black pickup truck where his two alleged accomplices were waiting, but the passerby didn't give up.

He convinced the occupants of a nearby vehicle to follow the suspects. They were able to give police a location and officers were quickly on the scene.

Police arrested Ramirez, Jose Martinez, 26, and Sonia Palacios, 38.

Ramirez' weapon turned out to be a toy.

The suspects are charged with aggravated robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they don't recommend doing what Sandoval did especially when you believe a suspect is armed but they are grateful to the citizens who helped.

"Four different citizens helped out in this situation," said Officer Jim Bryan, Denton Police Department. "We were able to get him into custody in about fifteen minutes."

The hilarious video is below for your amusement. Let this be a lesson to people in the prophetic words of Charlie Murphy to all Pizza Store Robbers who think they're Rick James and can go around slapping men and think you gonna be able to go about your business afterwards 'You don't slap another man. Somebody has to go after that'

Batman Was The Blackest Of All White Superheros

I always identified more w/ Batman.

He seemed Blacker than the rest even if he was technically white. [Luckily for me I won't let a little thing called facts interfere with this post]

He was almost like Bill Clinton or RFK that way. Batman had all the swagger Superman & Spiderman never did. Even his alter ego, Bruce Wayne, was gullier than Peter Parker & Clark Kent. You could imagine a younger Bruce giving nerdy ass Peter parker a swirly or taking his cupcakes or Bruce leaving the club with Lois Lane on some 'Don't bring your girl to the club if you want to leave with her, dog' shit.

Batman was the introverted, superhero split down the middle. Stuck between two words, similar to the African-American experience. He wasn't mainstream w/ his at all. Batman was underground. Not to say he wasn't heavy in the streets. Niggas knew not to fuck with him but Batman was more comfortable in the cave than at the mall.

Lastly, Spiderman got around on web, Superman got around with a cape and Batman got around in the Batmobile. You tell me whose most baller? And theme music, please! Don't even go there. Superman had that old school, standard brass band from the 40's, Spiderman didn't even have theme music, he's a fucking spider! A Spider's soundtrack is the sound of a size 12 Timberland stomping his ass against the hardwood. Batman though? Batman had Prince providing his soundtrack.

So there you have it. Incentive from the black community and a personal cosign from me, THS of hisaurawasorange campaigning on behalf of all real niggas everywhere to go see The Dark Knight this weekend. It really promises to be a decent movie. Not that anyone is or should be on the fence about seeing this flick as the buzz for it has been deafening leading up to this week. But go see it, support one of your own. Batman was black to me, damnit!
