This is an interactive movie game that presents you with choices every minute to stay alive as long as you can. I'm terrible at it but maybe you're better. If you've got a decent size monitor, some speakers and some time on your hands then this game is a godsend. If you have a smaller screen just press F11 after you come to the main screen of the website. Good luck.
This list is an homage to all the great white men who would have no quarrels going through the hood and can walk in any ghetto untouched based on their gully contributions to the black consciousness or understanding of our people. The list was actually very very long and it was hard to narrow this list down but I think I have the top ten so without much further mystery I present to you this week's Tuesday Top Ten White Dudes Who Have Earned Hood PassPorts:
10.) Steve Nash - On the strength that he could run the basketball court all day long he gets a hood passport. Put Nash on your squad and any five random scrubs and with all the no look passes and court vision he'd exhibit and you instantly got a winning team.
9. & 8.) Michael Myers & Jason Vorhees - I mean come on. There's not a person in the hood that could scare these two. In fact, a friend of mine from across the pond pointed out to me the fact that Jason actually walked through New York without any problems in one of those Friday the 13th joints. Straight strolled through back alleys and ayething like the shit was sesame street. As for Michael Myers, all I know is he's been shot, stabbed, electrocuted, blown up and arrested and he's still like fuck it. There's nothing in the hood that will deter Mike. They wouldn't be doing anything positive in the hood but than again most people there aren't either, unfortunately.
7. & 6.) Michael McDonald & Jon B - men who have done nothing but got brothas and sistas to settling down and making babies via soul-driven R&B for years. I mean these two you could put up against almost any of the greats the genre has ever seen. Michael McDonald remixes all the great timeless hits and does the justice to the originals that few can that leave you with a sense of how much he really respects the genre and it shows. As for Jon B. I don't care what you say, if you had a sister of the age of 12 or more in the 90's you know about Jon B. Even if you don't have a sister and you're not even as big a fan of the man that I am you still can't front and say you haven't a.) heard and b.) jammed to "Whatchu Say Boo" or "They Don't Know" and those are just two of his most well known songs.
The superlatives truly just won't stop on their own in adoration the black community can bestowe on the musical brilliance of these two so let me just say, I'd personally escort them into any hood in America myself and vouch for them.
5.) Tim Wise - The man drops knowledge. Very deep intellectual this man right here is. He's bold, honest and and is analytical in a way that others can't be. I'm sure certain white people think that this man is the 'White Uncle Ruckus' but they would only be saying that because they weren't being honest to and with themselves. In this video Tim speaks truth to power on 'how poor white people are duped into more closely identifying with conservative rich white people and voting against their economic interests than uniting with other similar economic demographics but letting something like race act as a hinderence to their own well-being'
Heavy.
4.) Ronald McDonald - The red afro comes into black communities everyday and serves billions for the low. The man has a resume that Marlo Stanfield or Avon Barksdale would have no choice but to respect. He's a hustler. In fact he rolse with muscle (the Hamburgular and Grimice) and also can be seen with a bird too. No joke, he kills everyday with his product but we can't deny him.
3.)Robert DeNiro - He's gullier than most, dates women that look like Michelle Obama almost exclusively and can be found in any black person's movie collection as he certainly is no stranger to my DVD player. The man has exhibited all the swagger most of us have tried imitating but never perfecting since we were youngins. he could walk down any
street in America and garner respect. No doubt about it.
2.) Phil Jackson - The Zen gets in. If you wasn't fucking with Phil in the 90's with the Bulls then your blak ass was fucking with him this decade with Shaq and Kobe. He's been the gold standard in our generation among coaches in professional sports. No doubting that Phil is/was gully.
1.) Bill Clinton - He was the first black president, enjoyed black support all throughout the Lewinsky ordeal when he was toxic everywhere else. He gave the most moving speech at Coretta Scott King's funeral. He embraces black people (as long as they're not running against his wife which is understandable looking back at it). I mean the man even went on The Arsenio Hall Show. Can you think of any other politician that high up in the political stratosphere that would do such a thing.......and play his saxophone wearing some Locs. Plus his office is and has been in Harlem since he left the white house. Bill Clinton was/is a straight gangsta. We in the black community respect and admire him.
As we all know, those of us that follow politics closely and also those of us who have historically not been as involved with or monitored the daily happenings of politics as closely as others, are witnessing the Democratic Party make history all this week in nominating Sen. Barack Obama as the first African-American selected by a major party for President in United States history and in a grander sense Western Hemispheric history. As you can imagine I'm soaking every waking moment in and every speech, heartfelt moment and special guest's recorded dialog as it were my job so the posts this week will be thin. There are much more important things in life, greater than my blog and this is one of them. So when I do post it will be about Obama and if you're not for the Obama posts you're kind enough to endure them for the time being until this week blows over and I get back to regularly scheduled programming next week. Anyway, tonight was Bill Clinton in the finest speech I've ever seen him give. This was the Bill Clinton I remembered and revered from back in the 90's. For just one night, the Michael Jordan of politics laced up his sneakers one more time, soared gracefully above everyone else, shot the three as he'd done so often in his prime and showed us that his jumper is still money. We've seen the worst of Bill Clinton these past few months, Tonight, we saw the best.
"People around the world have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power."
Thank you Bill (and Hillary), you've been giants...
A 25-year-old New York City graduate student is threatening to sue a T-Shirt designer after being assaulted for wearing one of his designs.
The woman bought a $69 shirt from Apollo Braun’s Manhattan boutique that bore the words, “Obama is my slave.” When she wore the shirt on Tuesday, four teenage girls accosted her - shoving her, pulling out her earphones, and spitting in her face, according to the New York edition of Metro News.
The unnamed woman is reportedly seeking solace by suing Braun - born Doron Braunshtein - for “all he’s got,” the designer claims. He, of course, is shirking any responsibility for the incident and says that the shirt reflects the views of “ordinary WASPs.”
“For a lot of people, when they see Obama, they see a slave. People think America is not ready for a black president,” the Israeli-born designer said.
I'm The Honorable 'Sass and I endorse that ass-whooping.
No, I don't really but seriously, people think it's cute to do dumb shit and expect that everything will be alright. You're within your rights to wear anything you want on a t-shirt no matter how crude or offensive it is. True enough. But don't wear something irresponsible and expect that you're going to be the only one that's going to be getting ignorant in public and nobody else is capable of getting ignorant too. God didn't stop making wild niggas after you. Expect people to react to you if you do something dumb and if you're going to take that risk in the first place and go into a certain environment that might act hostile in reaction to wearing a racist shirt then maybe you shouldn't wear it around them. Sort of like walking through a kennel with an outfit made of bacon. You're allowed to do it, but it's dumb and you're doing something purposely trying to illicit a response. Be grown-up enough to deal with the consequences.
When is misogyny not misogyny? When a rapper uses it in a rap song? That leads to congressional hearings. Entertainment isn't just entertainment when a rapper is espousing it. It's a pandemic if you don't get that under wraps.
Is it misogyny when Sean Connery is saying it to Barbara Walters about real life domestic abuse? Of course not. Are you kidding me?
It's just one game. I know. But this one game was a big one, in the minds of everyone who played in it and everyone that saw it.
We all know who every fan and analyst and prognosticator and expert in the world is pulling for or predicting is going to win.
We all know Kobe is supposed to be Jordan and supposed to be able to singlehandedly will his team to a Lakers championship in 4 or 5.
But if Barack Obama can win the Democratic Nomination in a calendar year against the machine that was Hillary Rodham Clinton in the face of adversity and skepticism and deliver a miracle to the people who believed in him when experts thought it foolish to, than Paul Pierce and the Celtics can win this series to.
1 game down. 3 to go. Another small step towards the team goal, another step towards Paul Pierce proving he is the criminally underrated elite superstar who I've publicly proclaimed he was for so many years to people who didn't want to hear it and most importantly another step towards showing that even a God-King can bleed, word to Leonidas from 300.
Knife-proof, machine-washable T-shirt not enough protection for you out there on the mean streets? Bulletproof backpack insert just won't cover enough of your nice, lead-free body? Maybe you need a hoodie with 2mm of Type IIA bulletproofing, enough to stop a 9mm full-metal-jacket round at a velocity of 1,090 feet-per-second. The bad news, besides the $600 price tag, is that the protection is only in the body, not the hood itself. Bladerunner Ltd., UK-based retailer of the Defender Hoodie, says the pullover also protects you from unspecified "lesser ballistic threats." (Do the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune count?) The hoodie goes on sale sometime in the next month, so please, for your own sake, don't go pissing off any mailman/lunch lady/ex-girlfriend in the meantime.
Damn, Gully doesn't come anywhere near adequately describing this hoodie.
You have to admit it, if this Democratic race was a wrestling match it'd be a Iron Man match. If it were a college football game it'd go until the point in OT that you'd have to go for two.
I wish I could have gotten on here tonight to tell you Barack won a couple games on Hillary's home court, but I can't with a straight face any more than I can tell you Michael Jackson is Puerto Rican or that R.Kelly isn't a sexual deviant.
On the Republican side, Johnny Mac hemmed up the nomination and put the final nail in the coffin of his naysayers and far-right opposition. John McCain most certainly isn't my guy let me make that perfectly clear. I couldn't imagine myself even considering him unless Hillary ends up with the nomination but I have got to say, if anyone deserves their moment in the sun, if anything like karma ever existed to balance out the sting of injustice and the validation of perseverance, John McCain has earned his time of glory. The man is a genuine American hero and the champion of courage personified and ought to be honored by everyone that salutes the American flag, the same one he was willing to be tortured and mangled for.
All of that said, the Democratic Race is going to look something like Casino now and Hillary is going to be Joe Pesci. Resiliant, persistent and headstrong.
"You beat Nicky with fists he came back with a knife, you beat him with a knife Nicky came back with a gun, and if you beat Nicky with a gun you better kill him, because he would come back and back and back until one of you was dead"
Hillary supporters will spin this like Barack still won't be up 100 plus delegates tonite. They'll say he lost the momentum. They'll say his donations lead won't matter. They'll treat this as if it now makes Hillary the frontrunner. This just simply isn't true. She still has a lot of ground to make up and by all the estimates of the remaining states and territories unspoken for until now, that won't change. He'll still have close to an 100 delegate lead and all that will change is that John McCain will have gained an upper hand argumentatively because neither Democratic candidate will have the time to fully engage him as they definitely should be doing at this time. The supporters from both camps will end up despising the other candidate and become more bitter and jagged toward the notion of the opposition being the flag bearer for the party in November. Both candidates will have cut each other down so much that the bulk of John McCain's legwork will have been carved out. There is no winning hand in stringing this out. In fact, I urge the good people that read this blog, yes all five of you, lol, to write your elected state democratic representatives and flood either their internet or postal mailboxes with letters to urge them that this race won't come to that. urge them to move towards rallying around Barack Obama and force Hillary to back out now. This is pointless. Do what is good for the party and not what's of interest to the Republicans and media.
Back to Casino, if this race plays itself out like the movie for Hillary, it'll end up with her in a hollow ditch in the middle of a cornfield. Only in this story the democratic electorate will be in the plot next to her instead of Nicky's brother.
Don't just allow her to bludgeon our chances in November! Vote. Be heard.
